The NSW Government has recently published advice that strongly recommends wearing a mask in high-risk settings to prevent the spread of COVID-19. In light of this latest advice from NSW Health, Holding Hands Family Services strongly recommends the following to all families currently in the service:

  • That masks be carried by all parents for both them and their child for use in any indoor locations utilised throughout visits.

  • Masks should also be carried for use in crowded outdoor locations.

I have attached the latest advice from NSW Health below. For more information, the NSW Health news and updates page can be accessed here.

Our management team continue to closely monitor reports of COVID-19 case locations in the Greater Sydney, Wollongong, Central Coast and Newcastle areas. Where a known COVID-19 case location is reported by NSW Health:

  • Families who have contact visits in or near a reported COVID-19 case location will have their visit location changed to an alternate location deemed reasonable by the Service.

  • Families who live in or adjacent to a known COVID-19 case location will have their visits changed to Online Contact Visits for a minimum period of 14 days or as otherwise defined by NSW Health.

  • Family members who live in or adjacent to a known COVID-19 case location must provide proof of a recent negative COVID-19 test prior to recommencing face-to-face contact visits.

Further, we ask that any family member who takes a COVID-19 test immediately report that to the service that they have done so. We ask that families remain flexible in their contact arrangements and exercise caution if experiencing known COVID-19 symptoms.

On behalf of the entire team I wish all of our families continued health throughout this difficult time.

Due to the continued success of the re-introduction of face-to-face visits and the easing of restrictions by the State and Federal Governments, the decision has been made to instate Phase 3 of our COVID19 Action Plan.

Should parents have any concerns about face-to-face visits during this time we encourage you to discuss your issues with our Service Manager.

As a result of the State and Federal Government's response to the 2020 COVID19 Pandemic, Holding Hands Family Services has initiated a program to ensure that Contact Visits can continue to be facilitated throughout this period.

Our team has developed a three phase approach that allows for children to continue to have contact with the  parent they do not live with throughout the various levels of restrictions that we predict will occur in the coming months. The 3 phases are as follows:

As you may be aware, the NSW State Government have announced a gradual easing of restrictions commencing this Friday.  Whilst it is our assessment that the announced changes do not allow for face-to-face visits to be recommenced, we are cautiously optimistic those restrictions will be lifted in the near future.

In the meantime, we are still facilitating Online Contact Visits.
