why every family has an inclement weather plan from the start

From the outset, a wet weather location is built into every family’s visit plan. It sits quietly alongside the primary visit plan, not as an afterthought, but as part of how visits are structured.

Weather is one of the few things that cannot be managed or predicted with certainty. Having an agreed alternative ensures that visits can continue without disruption when conditions change.

For children, the experience of contact is shaped as much by what stays the same as what changes. Knowing where a visit will occur, even if the weather shifts, helps maintain that sense of continuity.

A pre-agreed wet weather location means the visit still feels familiar. The setting may change, but the structure around the visit does not.

Transitions at the beginning and end of visits can carry a level of tension for families. When meeting points are clearly established in advance, there is less room for confusion or last-minute negotiation.

This clarity supports smoother handovers. It removes the need for on-the-spot decisions and allows everyone to move through the transition with greater certainty.

Weather can shift quickly. Having a secondary location already agreed allows changes to be made without delay or escalation.

Instead of needing to pause, renegotiate, or cancel, visits can adjust and continue.
